At the last KFS meeting it was decided that the KFS will send out an email to registered users every three months. It will contain information from the comittee and concerning research with synchrotron radiation. These emails can also be found found on the KFS webpage (in German only). [more]

Mar. 03, 2011: KFS-election 2011: The result

The German synchrotron radiation users have elected their new representatives. The constituent meeting of the new KFS is planned for April. 8 candidates out of 23 were elected (Eisebitt, Müller-Buschbaum, Rühl, Schneider, Schroer, Schreyer, Sinning, Wurt). To complete the KFS it needs: one representative of each synchrotron centre, maximum 4 members who are coopted by the elected members to cover important scientific fields, and a representative of the BMBF, DFG and the Project Management Organisation as guests. Apr. 14, 2010: Retrospect SNI2010

Scientists who work with synchrotron, neutron or ion beams (SNI) met at the SNI2010 (24.-26.2.2010) organised by HZB in Berlin. They used the opportunity to exchange results and discuss strategies. With over 700 participants, c. 80 scientific talks and 560 poster presentations the conference was a highlight in Berlin's scientific calendar. [more]

Mar. 26, 2010: Obituary Hans-Joachim Kalo

Hans-Joachim Kalo, who had been webmaster of the webpages of KFS, KFN, KFSI and KEKM for a year, died suddenly and unexpectedly on March 6th 2010 at the age of 56. The Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics grieves for a very kind and always good-humoured collegue. [more]

Oct. 19, 2009: Access to Major International X-Ray and Neutron Scattering Facilities

The Commitee on International Scientific Affairs (CISA) of the American Physical Society (APS) has recently completed a study entitled "Access to Major International X-Ray and Neutron Scattering Facilities". Many facilities and user groups kindly completed a questionnaire on access issues and policies in 2007 on which the study is largely based. The report was prepared by a subcommittee of the Committee on International Scientific Affairs of the American Physical Society. [more]

Sep. 26, 2008: Young Investigator FEL Prize for Michael Röhrs

Dr. Michael Röhrs was awarded the "Young Investigator FEL Prize" 2008, which he received on August 27th at the International Free-Electron Laser Conference in Corea. This prize is awarded annually to a young scientist chosen by an international selection procedure for "in recognition of outstanding contributions to Free Electron Laser science and technology". Apr. 04, 2008: KFS-election 2008

The KFS-election is over - you can find the results here. On behalf of the KFS I thank all the partcipants of the election! Many thanks to PT-DESY - especially to Mrs. Dr. Lucia Incoccia-Hermes and her co-workers - and to all further assistants too.
The constitutive session of the new KFS will take place on April 18th, 2008 at BESSY.
